The Chambers-Grundy Center for Transformative Neuroscience, directed by Dr. Jeffrey L. Cummings and housed within the Department of Brain Health in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, is advancing Nevada’s leadership in Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative research through data-driven discovery, biomarker development, and translational innovation. The Center integrates several major programs that bridge academic science, biotechnology, and clinical translation. The Clinical Trials Observatory publishes annual global analyses of the AD development pipeline, offering critical insight for researchers, industry partners, and/or investors into therapeutic targets, trial design, and emerging trends. The Biomarker Observatory complements this by collecting and evaluating data across various biomarkers to support early detection, clinical trial design, and precision medicine approaches. The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Innovation Incubator (INNOVATOR Program) prepares the next generation of scientist-innovators through specialized training in biotechnology, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship. The Pam Quirk Brain Health and Biomarker Laboratory (co-Directed by Dr. Cummings and Jefferson Kinney, PhD) supports biobanking, biomarker assay development and analytical platforms, and biomarker discovery. Together, these programs led by the Chambers-Grundy Center are advancing UNLV/Las Vegas’ role in neurodegenerative research and contributing to Las Vegas growth in biotechnology and therapeutic development.
